In 1988, Mira Borukhin opened a small retail travel agency in New York City, realizing her childhood dream of working with planes and exploring the world. Emigrating from Riga, Latvia, to the United States in the late '70s, and after completing her college education, Mira founded Downtown Travel. Today, it stands as one of the largest air consolidators in the United States and the sister company to AVANTGARDE VACATIONS.
