Further information: This 6 – day itinerary is designed for an adventure safari focused on primate encounters and cultural immersion in western Uganda. It assumes you arrive at Entebbe International Airport (EBB) and depart from there or nearby Kampala. Travel is primarily by private 4x4 vehicle with an English - speaking driver/guide. Total driving time between sites is about 12 – 14 hours. Permits: Chimpanzee trekking permits (USD 200/person) and gorilla trekking permits (USD 800/person, non – resident; book 3 – 6 months in advance). Batwa community visit cost about USD 40/person. Fitness Levels: Trekking involves moderate to strenuous hiking in hilly, forested terrain (2 – 7 hours); porters (USD 30 – 40) are recommended. Packing Essentials: Sturdy hiking boots, rain gear, insect repellent, binoculars, long sleeves/pants, hat, sunscreen, and a daypack. No drones or plastic bags allowed in parks. Accommodation: Budget/Mid– range options suggested (e.g., lodges with en – suite facilities); upgrades to luxury available. Meals are full board from Day 2 onward unless noted. Best Time: June – September or December – February for drier trails.
